What is ThingLink Scenario Builder 2.0?
Scenario Builder 2.0 is our prime tool for creating immersive learning experiences and interactive training courses. Check out the short overview video below!
What can I create with the Scenario Builder?
The scenario builder allows you to create any type of learning materials and simulations: safety trainings, interactive walkthroughs, complex facility tours, and many others. You can also use it to create gamified learning experiences, such as virtual escape rooms.
Scenarios consist of different blocks:
- ThingLink scenes - interactive images, videos, and 360-degree content you create using ThingLink Media editor.
- Third-party embeds - any tool that you can embed via an iframe, such as quizzes, presentations, maps, websites, forms, and other content.
- Branching blocks that lead to different learning paths depending on the learner's answer.
- Question blocks that you can use to check whether the learner understood the materials.
- Text blocks that you can provide feedback or simply display information in text form.
How can I share scenarios?
You can share scenarios via a link or by embedding them into your website or LMS. Scenarios can be public (available to everyone with a link), available to everyone who's connected to your ThingLink license, or shared with select users. For more information on sharing scenarios, see this article.
You can also view scenarios in a VR headset.
Availability
The Scenario editor is available on all user accounts. However, only select subscription plans allow you to share scenarios:
- Educational accounts: sharing scenarios requires a School/Organizational license. Individual Teacher accounts cannot share scenarios.
- Business accounts: sharing scenarios requires an Enterprise license.
If your license doesn't support sharing scenarios, please contact our team here, and we can provide you with trial access.
What is new in Scenario Builder 2.0?
If you have used Thinglink's original Scenario Builder, the 2.0 version will look familiar. It's a more refined and stable version that offers the same functionality along with several major improvements:
- Updated look and feel for both the editing experience and the learner's view, especially on mobile
- Support for automated content translation into 25+ different languages
- Support for xAPI, enabling you to pass detailed data on learner interactions with scenarios to your LRS for further analysis with your preferred tools.
- Significant stability improvements, allowing for the creation of larger scenarios.
- Ability to transform existing materials using AI: Scenario Builder 2.0 allows you to use ThingLink's AI tools to convert existing PDF training materials into an interactive scenario in less than a minute. Learn more here.
Can I still use Scenario Builder 1.0?
You can still use the original scenario builder (now called Scenario Builder 1.0) until January 2025. However, we highly recommend switching to Scenario Builder 2.0. To make the transition easier, you can automatically convert any existing scenarios to the 2.0 version - see this article for more details.
