There are two ways to use ThingLink with your students:
-
- Student learning: teachers creating and sharing interactive content for students to learn through in the learning management system (LMS) and other classroom settings. Example: you're a 7th grade biology teacher and create an interactive infographic to illustrate the water cycle. We recommend the Teacher license for one creator and a Premium Team license for larger numbers of creators.
- Student creation: teachers adding students to ThingLink where the students are creating interactive content for blended learning assignments. Example: you're a 7th grade biology teacher and you task students with creating an interactive image on an animal they learned about in class for a presentation. We recommend the School or Academic licenses for this usage and please request a quote for your school here.
Sharing the content you create with your students can be done for free during the 60-day trial. After creation, click the Share button to access the scene link. Please note that the free 60-day trial account allows for the sharing of the ThingLink scenes link during the trial period with no embedding. You will need to upgrade to a Teacher license to continue sharing ThingLinks. Professional teachers unlock embedding to your LMS, as well as link sharing.
A free 60-day trial teacher account gives you full access to the authoring tool and allows you to share images, 360 images and videos with a link during the trial.
Q: What happens to a free trial account after the trial is over? A: after the free 60-day trial period is over, you will be asked to upgrade your account to continue to use ThingLink. You cannot publish the content created during the trial after the trial is over unless you upgrade. However, you will retain access to your login, content and can upgrade at any point in the future. Contact sales@thinglink.com if you have questions or want to request a trial extension.
Allowing students to create content or collaborate with you requires a School license from your institution.
Free teacher accounts and Teacher licenses do not include student seats. Request a quote for the School licenses for your institution, or email sales@thinglink.com.
Some teachers may be tempted to advise students to register as business users in order to register them for free. We strongly advise against this for several reasons:
- This violates our terms of use and can result in you being banned from the service
- Business accounts do not have the same safe viewing features that education accounts have. This means that if you instruct your students to register as business users, you are opening them up to viewing material inappropriate for students. Your instructions and misuse of the product may result in your students seeing any images uploaded by our business users which may not be appropriate.
- Free business users cannot share their work, meaning you will not be able to see the work your students create.
We realize that teachers' can have limited budgets and that is why our Teacher license is priced differently than our offerings for business and institutional users. Please don’t hesitate to contact us if you have concerns about the price of the Teacher license.
