Summary: You can share a scenario on the web by sending learners a direct link or embedding it on a website or LMS. Open the scenario and click Share to copy either the scenario link or iframe embed code.
If the scenario is set to Private or Organization, viewers will need to sign in before they can access it. For public access without sign-in, set the scenario visibility to Anyone with the link.
Once you've finished creating your scenario, the next step is to share it with others so they can view and complete it. This article explains how to control access to your scenario, make sure the ThingLink scenes used inside it are available to viewers, and share the scenario in different ways.
- Scenario visibility settings
- Publishing to the web
- Publishing to the Landing page
- Sharing and viewing in VR
Availability
The Scenario editor is available on all user accounts. However, only select subscription plans allow you to share scenarios:
- K-12 accounts: sharing scenarios requires a K-12 Enhanced or Staff Training license. K-12 Essential and Individual Teacher accounts cannot share scenarios.
- Higher Education accounts: sharing scenarios requires a College/School or Campus license.
- Business/Public Sector accounts: sharing scenarios requires a Create Enterprise, Elevate Starter or Elevate Enterprise license.
If your license doesn't support sharing scenarios, please contact our team here, and we can provide you with trial access.
Scenario visibility settings
To adjust the scenario's visibility, click the 'Manage access' button and select the desired option next to 'Visibility'. There are three scenario visibility settings you can use:
- 'Anyone with the link' scenarios can be accessed by anyone. The viewer does not need a ThingLink account, but their progress will not be tracked.
- 'Organization' scenarios can be accessed by any user connected to your ThingLink organizational license. The viewer will need to sign into their ThingLink account to view the scenario.
- 'Private' scenarios are available only to users who have been added to the scenario. The viewer will need to sign into their ThingLink account to view the scenario.
All scenarios are set to 'Organization' setting by default.
You can change the scenario visibility setting and add learners or co-editors using the ‘Manage access’ button in the upper-right corner:
From the same 'Manage access' view, you can assign the folder to a group. Learn more about assigning content to specific groups here.
Scene / media visibility settings
Note: Scenario visibility settings and scene visibility settings are independent.
Changing the visibility setting of your scenario does not change the visibility settings of the ThingLink scenes/content you used to create the scenario. To make sure all scenes within the scenario are public, open your scenario, click 'Share' > 'Synchronize privacy settings' and select 'Anyone with the link'.
If your scenario is public but your viewers are getting an error saying that the content is private, check whether you need to update the content visibility settings.
If you give a user viewer access to the scenario, they will not see it on their scenarios page - they'll need to access the scenario via a link, as an embed or on a ThingLink Landing Page.
Sharing a link or embedding a scenario
You can share scenarios with your learners by sharing a direct link or embedding the scenario. Both options are available by opening the scenario and clicking the blue 'Share' button in the upper-right corner.
Sharing a link
You can share a scenario using a direct link, for example: https://www.thinglink.com/view/scenario/1897313231555264998.
If the scenario is set to 'Private' or 'Organization' and the user is not signed in to their ThingLink account, they will be asked to sign in first.
Embedding scenarios
You can embed scenarios using iframe embed code. Click the 'Share' button, copy the code, then add it to your website or LMS.
Here's a sample embed code you can try with your website/LMS:
<iframe width="960" height="720" src="https://www.thinglink.com/view/scenario/1897313231555264998" type="text/html" frameborder="0" webkitallowfullscreen mozallowfullscreen allowfullscreen scrolling="no"></iframe>If the scenario is set to 'Private' or 'Organization' and the user is not signed in to their ThingLink account, they will be asked to sign in first.
Publish to the Landing page
If you are an admin user, you can add a scenario to your Landing page by hovering over the 'Landing page' button at the top and clicking 'Landing page settings' (cog icon).
Scenarios added to the Landing page will be shown to users according to their visibility settings. If your Landing page visibility is set to 'Organization', users must sign in to be able to view the page and its content.

Sharing and viewing in VR
You can view the scenario in virtual reality by copying a link or sharing a short link for easier access on VR headsets, or by using your Landing Page with the ThingLink XR app. Learn more about VR here.
Next steps
Once your learners go through the scenario you've shared, you can check their results using scenario statistics.
