- Deactivate a user account
- Permanently delete a user account
- Transfer a deleted user’s content to another user
Before you delete a user
If you want to permanently delete a user account, you must deactivate it first.
Deactivation is reversible. Once a user is deactivated, they can no longer log in to ThingLink, and their content and folders are also deactivated.
Permanent deletion is irreversible. Before deleting a user, you can transfer their content to another user in your organization to make sure the content is preserved.
Deactivating a user
To deactivate a user:
- Go to the Organization page.
- Find the user in the Users list.
- Click More options — the three dots next to the user.
- Select Deactivate.
Once the account is deactivated, the user will no longer be able to log in. Their content and folders will also be deactivated.
Permanently deleting a user
To permanently delete a user:
- Go to the Organization page.
- Open the Deactivated users tab.
- Select the account or accounts you want to delete.
- Click Archive content & Delete:
- Choose whether to transfer the user’s content to another user before deletion.
- Confirm the deletion.
Please note that permanent deletion cannot be undone.
Transferring content before deletion
When you permanently delete a user, you will see an option to transfer their content to another user in your organization.
This allows organization administrators to remove users while preserving their content.
To delete a user and transfer their content:
- Go to the Deactivated users tab.
- Select the account or accounts you want to delete.
- Click Archive content & Delete.
- Click the User to save to field.
- Select the user who should receive the deleted user’s content:
- Click Confirm delete.
The selected user will receive:
- The deleted user’s content
- The deleted user’s folders and the content inside
- Any scenarios created by the deleted user
This does not affect published content. Existing links and embeds will remain the same.
This also does not affect folder sharing settings. If a folder was shared with other users, those users will still have access to it.
Restoring a deactivated user
To restore a deactivated user:
- Go to the Organization page.
- Open the Deactivated users tab.
- Find the user you want to restore.
- Click Restore.
Restoring the user reactivates their account, content, and folders. The user will appear in the active Users list again and will be able to use ThingLink.
