There are several ways to add users to your ThingLink organization. The best option depends on how many users you need to add, whether they already have ThingLink accounts, whether they should be added to specific groups, and whether your organization uses single sign-on (SSO), SCIM provisioning, or an LMS.
This article gives a short overview of the available options and helps you choose the right method. Click the links to review detailed instructions for the method you like.
Some methods are available only on specific plans or license types.

Adding users without SSO or LTI
If you are not using SSO, SCIM, or LTI, you can add users with invite codes, email invitations, CSV import, or manual account creation.
Email invitations are the recommended option if you are just adding your first colleagues.
For step-by-step instructions, see: Adding users manually.
Invite codes
Invite codes let users join your organization themselves. Users can enter an invite code during registration or use an invite code after signing in to an existing ThingLink account.
Use this method when you want users to join on their own, especially if you do not want to send individual email invitations.
Email invitations
Email invitations send users a link they can use to join your organization. Existing ThingLink users can join with their current account, while new users can create an account and join automatically.
Use this method when you need to add a small number of users and they can receive external emails.
CSV import
CSV import lets you create multiple accounts in advance by uploading a file with user details.
Use this method when you need to create many accounts at once and want to prepare login details before users sign in. This method requires each email address in the CSV file to be available for a new ThingLink account.
Manual account creation
Manual account creation lets you create accounts in advance without using users' real email addresses. ThingLink generates login details for each account.
Use this method when users should not or cannot use real email addresses, such as younger students or temporary users.
Single sign-on
If your organization uses an identity provider, you may be able to let users sign in with their external credentials and automatically join your license. This option is available for:
- Microsoft (Entra ID / Active Directory)
- Google Workspace
- Okta
- Other identity providers that support OpenID Connect (OIDC)
Use SSO when users should access ThingLink with an existing work or school account.
For setup instructions, see the dedicated article for your SSO or provisioning method.
LMS login with LTI 1.3
If your organization uses a learning management system (LMS), you may be able to connect ThingLink using LTI 1.3. This allows teachers and learners to access ThingLink from the LMS.
Use LTI when ThingLink access should be managed through your LMS rather than by inviting or creating users directly in ThingLink.
For setup instructions, see the dedicated LTI 1.3 articles:
