ThingLink provides several options for customizing the appearance of your tags. You can access customization settings by opening the editor, clicking ‘Settings’, and selecting ‘Tag customization’. There, you’ll find options for adjusting both the appearance and functionality of all tags in the scene.
Change tag color schemes
You can change the color scheme for tag popus for each scene by choosing one of the preset options or creating your own scheme.
- In the editor, click the 'Settings' button on the left-side panel
- Click on the 'Customization' button on the left-side panel
- Choose one of the preset schemes by clicking on the bubble OR change the HEX color values for each element of the tag container.
You can change colors for 4 elements:
- 'Background' - container's background color
- 'Text color' - main text's color
- 'Button background' - link button's background color
- 'Button text color' - the color of the text on the link button
To change a color, click on the colored square next to each field and use your system's color picker. Alternatively, you can paste a HEX code into the field.
Note that custom color schemes work only with the default layout. If your text & media tags use a different layout, they will use the preset color scheme instead. For more information on layouts, see this article.
Font: Click on the font selector and choose your preferred font from the drop-down menu, you can read more about fonts here
Anchor line: You can now add an anchor - a simple line connecting your icon with any other point of the image. You can customize anchor line's color and line type.
Other settings: Tag appearance controls
Disable tag animation
By default, all icons will slowly pulsate to help your viewers locate the tags & increase the engagement rate. You can disable the animation by toggling off the 'Disable animation' option.
Tag animation color will match the icon color. Custom icons will always use white pulsing animation.
Change tag popup size
You can choose between two different popup sizes for 'Text & media' tags - default and large. To enable large popups, simply toggle the 'Large popup window':
Disable video looping
By default, all videos you add to text and media tags will loop indefinitely. You can turn on this setting to disable video looping.
Large popup window
ThingLink automatically adjusts the size of the popup windows to different screen sizes. However, you can increase the size of the popup window by enabling the ‘Large popup window’ setting.
Note that the setting applies to text & media tags only.
Fit tag media
By default, the editor crops images and videos to fit 8:9 or 16:9 aspect ratios. 8:9 ratio is for media with a title or a link button, while 16:9 ratio is for plain media, media + description or extended media view.
To prevent your images and videos from being cropped, go to Settings -> Tag customization and use the 'Fit tag media' toggle:
Hover preview
ThingLink automatically shows a little preview of text and media tags when the viewer hovers over an icon. This helps the user understand what is behind the icon and encourages them to click to explore more.
You can disable this preview by toggling off the ‘Hover preview’ setting inside Settings -> Tag customization.
Read more about the hover previewer here.
