Deploy ThingLink for iOS with Jamf

Jamf allows you to easily deploy ThingLink applications - ThingLink and ThingLink AR - across your organization's iPhones and iPads. 

Adding the App 

1. Go to Jamf Pro, navigate to Devices, and select Mobile Device Apps under Content Management
2. Select '+ New' and choose 'App Store app or apps purchased in volume' under Choose an App Type
   
3. Enter 'ThingLink' in the search field and click Next
4. You'll be taken to the search results page. Select 'iPhone & iPod touch Apps', then click the Add button next to the ThingLink app you wish to install
   
5. You'll be taken to the app configuration page. You can save the app with the default configuration, or make the following changes:
   • Check the 'Automatically force app updates' box to make sure the app is always up-to-date.
   • Change the Distribution Method to 'Install Automatically/Prompt Users to install' if you plan to distribute ThingLink among large groups of users.

Distributing the App

Once the app has been added, you can distribute it to select devices or assign it to groups of users.

For Single Devices

1. Go to Jamf Pro and navigate to Devices > Inventory
2. Select the device you want to distribute the app to.
3. Click 'Managed Apps' and select 'Add Apps'
4. Add ThingLink or ThingLink AR to install the app immediately

For Groups

1. Go to Jamf Pro, navigate to Devices, and select Mobile Device Apps under Content Management
2. Select the ThingLink or ThingLink AR app
3. Open the Scope tab and click the Edit button
4. Select one or more devices or user groups
5. Click Save

Using the apps

ThingLink app

The ThingLink app allows your users to access their ThingLink profiles to create or consume content. The app will require the user to sign in after launching the application. For best outcomes, we recommend setting up one of the forms of single sign-on described here.

ThingLink AR app

The ThingLink AR app does not require users to sign in. The only thing your users will need is the shortcode or the QR code for the content they need to view. See this page for more information on how to share content for ThingLink AR.
