Cloning creates an independent copy of a scenario that you can edit without affecting the original. You can use it to create a backup, develop a different version, or create a scenario that students or colleagues can clone and adapt.
The cloned scenario includes all blocks and connections from the original, but does not include learner progress, responses, or analytics data.
How to clone a scenario
You can clone a scenario from either the Scenarios page or the scenario editor.
From the Scenarios page:
- Open Scenarios.
- Click the three-dot menu on the scenario you want to copy.
- Select Clone.
From the scenario editor:
- Open the scenario.
- Click the three-dot menu in the upper-right corner.
- Select Clone.
The cloned scenario will appear on your Scenarios page.
What happens to ThingLink scenes in the scenario?
Any ThingLink scenes added directly to the scenario are also cloned. The cloned scenes are placed in a folder that ThingLink creates automatically in your account, and the new scenario uses these copies.
This means that changes made to scenes in the original scenario do not affect the cloned scenario, and vice versa.
Cloning scenarios that contain tours
If a ThingLink scene added to the scenario is part of a tour, only that scene is cloned. Other scenes connected to it through transit tags are not cloned automatically.
To create an independent copy of the complete tour, clone the connected scenes separately and update the transit tags so they link to the cloned versions.
