Media editor: Guided mode and Locked mode

Guided mode and Locked mode are special viewing modes for your standard ThingLink media content that prompt (or require) the learner to view all tags in a pre-determined sequence.

Guided mode

Guided mode is an additional setting. If Guided mode is turned on, the tag icons are highlighted one by one based on the tag sequence you set, prompting the viewer to interact with the tags in a certain order. Check out the example below!

How to enable the Guided mode

1. Open the editor
2. Go to Settings
3. Turn on Guided mode:
   
   
4. (Optional) Use the Tag sequence menu to change the order in which the tags are highlighted

Exit the editor to see how the Guided mode works with your project. Guided mode is inactive when editing a scene.

How the Guided mode works

The initial tag will be displayed in a larger size and pulsate. When the viewer clicks the tag icon, the subsequent tag will become highlighted. The tags will be highlighted one by one until the viewer interacts with all tags.

Locked mode

Locked mode is similar to Guided mode, but it requires the viewer to open all tags in sequence. If you enable the Locked mode, the icons will be highlighted one by one, and all icons except the first one are locked and cannot be opened until the viewer opens all previous tags:

How to enable the Locked mode

1. Open the editor
2. Go to Settings
3. Turn on Guided mode.
4. Once you turn on Guided mode, you will see the option to turn on Locked mode:
   
   
5. (Optional) Use the Tag sequence menu to change the order in which the tags are highlighted.

Notes & limitations

• Guided mode and Locked mode work with images and 360° images only. It does not work with videos, 360° videos, or 3D models.
• This setting is not inherited across a tour. If you have connected multiple scenes using transit tags, you can enable or disable this setting independently for each individual scene.
• 360° images: if a highlighted tag is out of view, it will appear on the edge of the screen.
• Static labels are not highlighted. We recommend avoiding using static labels if you would like to use Guided mode or Locked mode.
• Guided mode and locked mode are not supported in VR.
